World English Bible (with Deuterocanon)

1 He said to them, “Most|strong="G2316" certainly|strong="G2532" I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", there|strong="G2532" are|strong="G1510" some|strong="G5100" standing|strong="G2476" here|strong="G5602" who|strong="G3588" will|strong="G2316" in|strong="G1722" no|strong="G3756" way|strong="G1722" taste|strong="G1089" death|strong="G2288" until|strong="G2193" they|strong="G2532" see|strong="G3708" God|strong="G2316"’s Kingdom come|strong="G2064" with|strong="G1722" power|strong="G1411".” 2 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them. 3 His clothing became glistening, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4 Elijah and Moses appeared to them, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter answered Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 6 For he didn’t know what to say, for they were very afraid. 7 A cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” 8 Suddenly looking around, they saw no one with them any more, except Jesus only. 9 As they were coming down from the mountain, he commanded them that they should tell no one what things they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 They kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant. 11 They asked him, saying, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 12 He said to them, “Elijah|strong="G2243" indeed|strong="G2532" comes|strong="G2064" first|strong="G4413", and|strong="G2532" restores all|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956". How|strong="G4459" is|strong="G3588" it|strong="G2532" written|strong="G1125" about|strong="G1909" the|strong="G2532" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G3956", that|strong="G2443" he|strong="G2532" should|strong="G3588" suffer|strong="G3958" many|strong="G4183" things|strong="G3956" and|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" despised|strong="G1848"? 13 But|strong="G2532" I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" that|strong="G3754" Elijah|strong="G2243" has|strong="G3748" come|strong="G2064", and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2309" also|strong="G2532" done|strong="G4160" to|strong="G2532" him|strong="G4160" whatever|strong="G3745" they|strong="G2532" wanted|strong="G2309" to|strong="G2532", even|strong="G2532" as|strong="G2531" it|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3748" written|strong="G1125" about|strong="G1909" him|strong="G4160".” 14 Coming to the disciples, he saw a great multitude around them, and scribes questioning them. 15 Immediately all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him, greeted him. 16 He asked the scribes, “What|strong="G5101" are|strong="G2532" you|strong="G1438" asking|strong="G1905" them|strong="G1438"?” 17 One of the multitude answered, “Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit; 18 and wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; and he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they weren’t able.” 19 He answered him, “Unbelieving generation|strong="G1074", how|strong="G2193" long|strong="G2193" shall|strong="G3588" I|strong="G1473" be|strong="G1510" with|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5210"? How|strong="G2193" long|strong="G2193" shall|strong="G3588" I|strong="G1473" bear|strong="G5342" with|strong="G4314" you|strong="G5210"? Bring|strong="G5342" him|strong="G3588" to|strong="G4314" me|strong="G1473".” 20 They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth. 21 He asked his father, “How|strong="G5613" long|strong="G5550" has|strong="G3962" it|strong="G2532" been|strong="G1510" since|strong="G1537" this|strong="G3778" has|strong="G3962" been|strong="G1510" happening|strong="G1096" to|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588"?” He said, “From childhood. 22 Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23 Jesus said to him, “If|strong="G1487" you|strong="G1487" can|strong="G1410" believe|strong="G4100", all|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956" are|strong="G3588" possible|strong="G1415" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" believes|strong="G4100".” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!” 25 When Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, “You|strong="G4771" mute|strong="G2974" and|strong="G2532" deaf|strong="G2974" spirit|strong="G4151", I|strong="G1473" command|strong="G2004" you|strong="G4771", come|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" of|strong="G1537" him|strong="G3588", and|strong="G2532" never|strong="G3371" enter|strong="G1525" him|strong="G3588" again|strong="G3371"!” 26 After crying out and convulsing him greatly, it came out of him. The boy became like one dead, so much that most of them said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him up; and he arose. 28 When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?” 29 He said to them, “This|strong="G3778" kind|strong="G1085" can|strong="G1410" come|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" by|strong="G1722" nothing|strong="G3762" but|strong="G2532" by|strong="G1722" prayer|strong="G4335" and|strong="G2532" fasting.” 30 They went out from there and passed through Galilee. He didn’t want anyone to know it, 31 for he was teaching his disciples, and said to them, “The|strong="G2532" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G1519" is|strong="G3588" being|strong="G2532" handed|strong="G3860" over|strong="G3860" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" hands|strong="G5495" of|strong="G5207" men|strong="G3588", and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" kill him|strong="G3588"; and|strong="G2532" when|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" killed, on|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" third day|strong="G2250" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" rise|strong="G2250" again|strong="G1519".” 32 But they didn’t understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him. 33 He came to Capernaum, and when he was in the house he asked them, “What|strong="G5101" were|strong="G3588" you|strong="G1722" arguing among|strong="G1722" yourselves|strong="G1438" on|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" way|strong="G3598"?” 34 But they were silent, for they had disputed with one another on the way about who was the greatest. 35 He sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them, “If|strong="G1487" any|strong="G5100" man|strong="G5100" wants|strong="G2309" to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" first|strong="G4413", he|strong="G2532" shall|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" last|strong="G2078" of|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956", and|strong="G2532" servant|strong="G1249" of|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956".” 36 He took a little child and set him in the middle of them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever|strong="G3739" receives|strong="G1209" one|strong="G1520" such|strong="G5108" little child|strong="G3813" in|strong="G1909" my|strong="G1473" name|strong="G3686" receives|strong="G1209" me|strong="G1473"; and|strong="G2532" whoever|strong="G3739" receives|strong="G1209" me|strong="G1473", doesn’t|strong="G3588" receive|strong="G1209" me|strong="G1473", but|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3739" sent|strong="G2532" me|strong="G1473".” 38 John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone who doesn’t follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow us.” 39 But Jesus said, “Don’t|strong="G3588" forbid|strong="G2967" him|strong="G3588", for|strong="G1063" there|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" no|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" who|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" do|strong="G4160" a|strong="G2532" mighty|strong="G1411" work|strong="G1411" in|strong="G1909" my|strong="G1473" name|strong="G3686" and|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" able|strong="G1410" quickly|strong="G5035" to|strong="G2532" speak|strong="G3004" evil|strong="G2551" of|strong="G2532" me|strong="G1473". 40 For|strong="G1063" whoever|strong="G3739" is|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" against|strong="G2596" us|strong="G2249" is|strong="G1510" on|strong="G5228" our|strong="G2596" side. 41 For|strong="G1063" whoever|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" give|strong="G4222" you|strong="G5210" a|strong="G1722" cup|strong="G4221" of|strong="G3686" water|strong="G5204" to|strong="G3004" drink|strong="G4222" in|strong="G1722" my|strong="G1722" name|strong="G3686" because|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" are|strong="G1510" Christ|strong="G5547"’s, most certainly|strong="G1063" I|strong="G1473" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", he|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" no|strong="G3756" way|strong="G1722" lose his|strong="G1722" reward|strong="G3408". 42 “Whoever|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" cause|strong="G4624" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G4012" these|strong="G3778" little|strong="G3398" ones|strong="G3398" who|strong="G3739" believe|strong="G4100" in|strong="G1519" me|strong="G1473" to|strong="G1519" stumble|strong="G4624", it|strong="G2532" would|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1510" better|strong="G2570" for|strong="G1519" him|strong="G3588" if|strong="G1487" he|strong="G2532" were|strong="G1510" thrown into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" sea|strong="G2281" with|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" millstone|strong="G3458" hung|strong="G4029" around|strong="G4012" his|strong="G1519" neck|strong="G5137". 43 If|strong="G1437" your|strong="G2192" hand|strong="G5495" causes|strong="G4624" you|strong="G4771" to|strong="G1519" stumble|strong="G4624", cut|strong="G2532" it|strong="G2532" off. Bible Crampon 1923

Amenez-le-moi. »
