1Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.2During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,3Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came from God and was going to God,4arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel and wrapped a towel around his waist.5Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.6Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”7Jesus answered him, “You|strong="G4771" don’t know|strong="G1492" what|strong="G3739" I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1473" doing|strong="G4160" now|strong="G1161", but|strong="G1161" you|strong="G4771" will|strong="G2532" understand|strong="G1097" later|strong="G3326".”8Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If|strong="G1437" I|strong="G1473" don’t|strong="G3588" wash|strong="G3538" you|strong="G4771", you|strong="G4771" have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3756" part|strong="G3313" with|strong="G3326" me|strong="G1473".” 9Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”10Jesus said to him, “Someone who|strong="G3588" has|strong="G2192" bathed|strong="G3068" only|strong="G1487" needs|strong="G5532" to|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" his|strong="G3956" feet|strong="G4228" washed|strong="G3538", but|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" completely|strong="G3650" clean|strong="G2513". Then Jesus said to him, “What|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" do|strong="G4160", do|strong="G4160" quickly|strong="G5032".”28Now nobody at the table knew why he said this to him.29For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus said to him, “Buy what things we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.30Therefore having received that morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.31When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now|strong="G3568" the|strong="G1722" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G5207" has|strong="G2316" been|strong="G2532" glorified|strong="G1392", and|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" has|strong="G2316" been|strong="G2532" glorified|strong="G1392" in|strong="G1722" him|strong="G3588". 32If|strong="G1487" God|strong="G2316" has|strong="G2316" been|strong="G2532" glorified|strong="G1392" in|strong="G1722" him|strong="G3588", God|strong="G2316" will|strong="G2316" also|strong="G2532" glorify|strong="G1392" him|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" himself|strong="G1438", and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" glorify|strong="G1392" him|strong="G3588" immediately|strong="G2112". 33Little|strong="G3398" children|strong="G5040", I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" with|strong="G3326" you|strong="G5210" a|strong="G2532" little|strong="G3398" while|strong="G3398" longer|strong="G2089".
