» Jésus lui dit : « Tu as bien jugé. »

1After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.2A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.3When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.4When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him,5for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.”6Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.7Therefore I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.8For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”9When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", I|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3761" found|strong="G2147" such|strong="G5118" great|strong="G5118" faith|strong="G4102", no|strong="G3761", not|strong="G3761" in|strong="G1722" Israel|strong="G2474".”10Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.11Soon afterwards, he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.12Now when he came near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only born son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.13When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Don’t|strong="G3588" cry.”14He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young|strong="G3495" man|strong="G3495", I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G4771", arise|strong="G1453"!”15He who was dead sat up and began to speak. Then he gave him to his mother.16Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited his people!”17This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region.18The disciples of John told him about all these things.19John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”20When the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?’”21In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.22Jesus answered them, “Go|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" John|strong="G2491" the|strong="G2532" things|strong="G3739" which|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" have|strong="G2532" seen|strong="G3708" and|strong="G2532" heard: that|strong="G3754" the|strong="G2532" blind|strong="G5185" receive their|strong="G2532" sight, the|strong="G2532" lame|strong="G5560" walk|strong="G4043", the|strong="G2532" lepers|strong="G3015" are|strong="G3739" cleansed|strong="G2511", the|strong="G2532" deaf|strong="G2974" hear, the|strong="G2532" dead|strong="G3498" are|strong="G3739" raised|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" poor|strong="G4434" have|strong="G2532" good|strong="G2097" news|strong="G2097" preached|strong="G2097" to|strong="G2532" them|strong="G3739". 23Blessed|strong="G3107" is|strong="G1510" he|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3739" finds no|strong="G3361" occasion for|strong="G1722" stumbling|strong="G4624" in|strong="G1722" me|strong="G1473".”24When John’s messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, “What|strong="G5101" did|strong="G5101" you|strong="G3004" go|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G1519" wilderness|strong="G2048" to|strong="G1519" see|strong="G2300"?
