1He entered into a boat and crossed over, and came into his own city.2Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Son|strong="G5043", cheer up|strong="G4374"! Your|strong="G2532" sins are|strong="G3588" forgiven you|strong="G4771".”3Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man blasphemes.”4Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why|strong="G2444" do|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" think|strong="G1760" evil|strong="G4190" in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G2532" hearts|strong="G2588"? 5For|strong="G1063" which|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" easier|strong="G2123", to|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", ‘Your|strong="G2532" sins are|strong="G1510" forgiven;’ or|strong="G2228" to|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", ‘Get|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453", and|strong="G2532" walk|strong="G4043"’? 6But he said to the paralytic), “Get|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453", and|strong="G2532" take|strong="G1161" up|strong="G1453" your|strong="G2192" mat, and|strong="G2532" go|strong="G5217" to|strong="G1519" your|strong="G2192" house|strong="G3624".”7He arose and departed to his house.8But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.9As Jesus passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him, “Follow me got up and followed him.10As he sat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.11When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”12When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" healthy|strong="G2480" have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3756" need|strong="G5532" for|strong="G1161" a|strong="G2192" physician|strong="G2395", but|strong="G1161" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" sick|strong="G2560" do|strong="G3004". 13But|strong="G1161" you|strong="G1510" go|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" learn|strong="G3129" what|strong="G5101" this|strong="G2532" means|strong="G1510": ‘I|strong="G2532" desire|strong="G2309" mercy|strong="G1656", and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" sacrifice|strong="G2378",’for|strong="G1063" I|strong="G2532" came|strong="G2064" not|strong="G3756" to|strong="G2532" call|strong="G2564" the|strong="G2532" righteous|strong="G1342", but|strong="G1161" sinners to|strong="G2532" repentance.”14Then John’s disciples came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don’t fast?”15Jesus said to them, “Can|strong="G1410" the|strong="G2532" friends of|strong="G5207" the|strong="G2532" bridegroom|strong="G3566" mourn|strong="G3996" as|strong="G3745" long|strong="G2250" as|strong="G3745" the|strong="G2532" bridegroom|strong="G3566" is|strong="G1510" with|strong="G3326" them|strong="G3588"? Jesus said to them, “Do|strong="G4160" you|strong="G3754" believe|strong="G4100" that|strong="G3754" I|strong="G2532" am|strong="G2532" able|strong="G1410" to|strong="G1519" do|strong="G4160" this|strong="G3778"?” They told him, “Yes, Lord.”29Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According|strong="G2596" to|strong="G2596" your|strong="G4102" faith|strong="G4102" be|strong="G1096" it|strong="G5119" done|strong="G1096" to|strong="G2596" you|strong="G5210".”30Then their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly commanded them, saying, “See|strong="G3708" that|strong="G3588" no|strong="G3367" one|strong="G3367" knows|strong="G1097" about|strong="G2424" this|strong="G3588".”31But they went out and spread abroad his fame in all that land.32As they went out, behold, a mute man who was demon possessed was brought to him.33When the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”34But the Pharisees said, “By the prince of the demons, he casts out demons.”35Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.36But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them because they were harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.37Then he said to his disciples, “The|strong="G1161" harvest|strong="G2326" indeed|strong="G3303" is|strong="G3588" plentiful|strong="G4183", but|strong="G1161" the|strong="G1161" laborers|strong="G2040" are|strong="G3588" few|strong="G3641". 38Pray|strong="G1189" therefore|strong="G3767" that|strong="G3588" the|strong="G1519" Lord|strong="G2962" of|strong="G2962" the|strong="G1519" harvest|strong="G2326" will|strong="G2962" send|strong="G1544" out|strong="G1544" laborers|strong="G2040" into|strong="G1519" his|strong="G1519" harvest|strong="G2326".”
