John 10

1 “Most certainly|strong="G2532", I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", one|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" doesn’t|strong="G3588" enter|strong="G1525" by|strong="G1223" the|strong="G2532" door|strong="G2374" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263" fold, but|strong="G2532" climbs up|strong="G1519" some|strong="G3588" other|strong="G3361" way|strong="G1223", is|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2532" thief|strong="G2812" and|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" robber|strong="G3027". 2 But|strong="G1161" one|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" enters|strong="G1525" in|strong="G1525" by|strong="G1223" the|strong="G1161" door|strong="G2374" is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G1161" shepherd|strong="G4166" of|strong="G1223" the|strong="G1161" sheep|strong="G4263". 3 The|strong="G2532" gatekeeper opens the|strong="G2532" gate for|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263" listen to|strong="G2532" his|strong="G2398" voice|strong="G5456". He|strong="G2532" calls|strong="G5455" his|strong="G2398" own|strong="G2398" sheep|strong="G4263" by|strong="G2596" name|strong="G3686" and|strong="G2532" leads|strong="G1806" them|strong="G3588" out|strong="G1806". 4 Whenever|strong="G3752" he|strong="G2532" brings|strong="G1544" out|strong="G1544" his|strong="G3956" own|strong="G2398" sheep|strong="G4263", he|strong="G2532" goes|strong="G4198" before|strong="G1715" them|strong="G3588"; and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263" follow|strong="G4198" him|strong="G3588", for|strong="G3754" they|strong="G2532" know|strong="G1492" his|strong="G3956" voice|strong="G5456". 5 They|strong="G1161" will|strong="G3748" by|strong="G3361" no|strong="G3756" means|strong="G3361" follow|strong="G1161" a|strong="G1161" stranger, but|strong="G1161" will|strong="G3748" flee|strong="G5343" from|strong="G5456" him|strong="G3588"; for|strong="G3754" they|strong="G1161" don’t|strong="G3588" know|strong="G1492" the|strong="G1161" voice|strong="G5456" of|strong="G5456" strangers.” 6 Jesus spoke this parable to them, but they didn’t understand what he was telling them. 7 Jesus therefore said to them again, “Most certainly, I|strong="G1473" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" the|strong="G3588" sheep|strong="G4263"’s door|strong="G2374". 8 All|strong="G3956" who|strong="G3588" came|strong="G2064" before|strong="G4253" me|strong="G1473" are|strong="G1510" thieves|strong="G2812" and|strong="G2532" robbers|strong="G3027", but|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263" didn’t|strong="G3588" listen to|strong="G2532" them|strong="G3588". 9 I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" door|strong="G2374". If|strong="G1437" anyone|strong="G5100" enters|strong="G1525" in|strong="G1525" by|strong="G1223" me|strong="G1473", he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" saved|strong="G4982", and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" go|strong="G1831" in|strong="G1525" and|strong="G2532" go|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" find|strong="G2147" pasture|strong="G3542". 10 The|strong="G2532" thief|strong="G2812" only|strong="G1487" comes|strong="G2064" to|strong="G2443" steal|strong="G2813", kill|strong="G2380", and|strong="G2532" destroy. I|strong="G1473" came|strong="G2064" that|strong="G2443" they|strong="G2532" may|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" life|strong="G2222", and|strong="G2532" may|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" it|strong="G2532" abundantly|strong="G4053". 11 “I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" the|strong="G3588" good|strong="G2570" shepherd|strong="G4166". The|strong="G3588" good|strong="G2570" shepherd|strong="G4166" lays|strong="G5087" down|strong="G5087" his|strong="G5087" life|strong="G5590" for|strong="G5228" the|strong="G3588" sheep|strong="G4263". 12 He|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3739" is|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2532" hired|strong="G3411" hand|strong="G3411", and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" a|strong="G2532" shepherd|strong="G4166", who|strong="G3739" doesn’t|strong="G3588" own|strong="G2398" the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263", sees|strong="G2334" the|strong="G2532" wolf|strong="G3074" coming|strong="G2064", leaves the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263", and|strong="G2532" flees|strong="G5343". The|strong="G2532" wolf|strong="G3074" snatches the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263" and|strong="G2532" scatters|strong="G4650" them|strong="G3588". 13 The|strong="G2532" hired|strong="G3411" hand|strong="G3411" flees because|strong="G3754" he|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2532" hired|strong="G3411" hand|strong="G3411" and|strong="G2532" doesn’t|strong="G3588" care|strong="G3199" for|strong="G3754" the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263". 14 I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" good|strong="G2570" shepherd|strong="G4166". I|strong="G1473" know|strong="G1097" my|strong="G1699" own|strong="G1699", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473"’m known|strong="G1097" by|strong="G2532" my|strong="G1699" own|strong="G1699"; 15 even|strong="G2532" as|strong="G2531" the|strong="G2532" Father|strong="G3962" knows|strong="G1097" me|strong="G1473", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" know|strong="G1097" the|strong="G2532" Father|strong="G3962". I|strong="G1473" lay|strong="G5087" down|strong="G5087" my|strong="G5087" life|strong="G5590" for|strong="G5228" the|strong="G2532" sheep|strong="G4263". 16 I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2192" other|strong="G1520" sheep|strong="G4263" which|strong="G3739" are|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G1537" this|strong="G3778" fold|strong="G4167". I|strong="G1473" must|strong="G1163" bring|strong="G2532" them|strong="G3588" also|strong="G2532", and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" hear|strong="G5456" my|strong="G1473" voice|strong="G5456". They|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" become|strong="G1096" one|strong="G1520" flock|strong="G4167" with|strong="G1537" one|strong="G1520" shepherd|strong="G4166". 17 Therefore|strong="G1223" the|strong="G1223" Father|strong="G3962" loves me|strong="G1473", because|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" lay|strong="G5087" down|strong="G5087" my|strong="G5087" life|strong="G5590", that|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" may|strong="G2443" take|strong="G2983" it|strong="G3754" again|strong="G3825". 18 No|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" takes|strong="G2983" it|strong="G2532" away|strong="G5087" from|strong="G3844" me|strong="G1473", but|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" lay|strong="G5087" it|strong="G2532" down|strong="G5087" by|strong="G3844" myself|strong="G1683". I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2192" power|strong="G1849" to|strong="G2532" lay|strong="G5087" it|strong="G2532" down|strong="G5087", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2192" power|strong="G1849" to|strong="G2532" take|strong="G2983" it|strong="G2532" again|strong="G3825". I|strong="G1473" received|strong="G2983" this|strong="G3778" commandment|strong="G1785" from|strong="G3844" my|strong="G5087" Father|strong="G3962".” 19 Therefore a division arose again among the Jews because of these words. 20 Many of them said, “He has a demon and is insane! Why do you listen to him?” 21 Others said, “These are not the sayings of one possessed by a demon. It isn’t possible for a demon to open the eyes of the blind, is it?” 22 It was the Feast of the Dedication at Jerusalem. 23 It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 The Jews therefore came around him and said to him, “How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered them, “I|strong="G1473" told|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" don’t|strong="G3588" believe|strong="G4100". The|strong="G1722" works|strong="G2041" that|strong="G3739" I|strong="G1473" do|strong="G4160" in|strong="G1722" my|strong="G1722" Father|strong="G3962"’s name|strong="G3686", these|strong="G3778" testify|strong="G3140" about|strong="G4012" me|strong="G1473". 26 But|strong="G3588" you|strong="G5210" don’t|strong="G3588" believe|strong="G4100", because|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" are|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" of|strong="G1537" my|strong="G1699" sheep|strong="G4263", as|strong="G3754" I|strong="G3754" told you|strong="G5210". 27 My|strong="G1699" sheep|strong="G4263" hear|strong="G5456" my|strong="G1699" voice|strong="G5456", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" know|strong="G1097" them|strong="G3588", and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" follow me|strong="G1473". 28 I|strong="G1473" give|strong="G1325" eternal life|strong="G2222" to|strong="G1519" them|strong="G3588". They|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" never|strong="G3756" perish, and|strong="G2532" no|strong="G3756" one|strong="G5100" will|strong="G2532" snatch them|strong="G3588" out|strong="G1537" of|strong="G1537" my|strong="G1325" hand|strong="G5495". 29 My|strong="G1325" Father|strong="G3962" who|strong="G3739" has|strong="G3962" given|strong="G1325" them|strong="G3588" to|strong="G2532" me|strong="G1325" is|strong="G1510" greater|strong="G3173" than|strong="G3173" all|strong="G3956". No|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762" is|strong="G1510" able|strong="G1410" to|strong="G2532" snatch them|strong="G3588" out|strong="G1537" of|strong="G1537" my|strong="G1325" Father|strong="G3962"’s hand|strong="G5495". 30 I|strong="G1473" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" Father|strong="G3962" are|strong="G1510" one|strong="G1520".” 31 Therefore the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, “I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G1473" shown|strong="G1166" you|strong="G5210" many|strong="G4183" good|strong="G2570" works|strong="G2041" from|strong="G1537" my|strong="G1473" Father|strong="G3962". For|strong="G1223" which|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1537" those|strong="G3588" works|strong="G2041" do|strong="G2041" you|strong="G5210" stone|strong="G3034" me|strong="G1473"?” 33 The Jews answered him, “We don’t stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.” 34 Jesus answered them, “Isn’t|strong="G3588" it|strong="G3754" written|strong="G1125" in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G1722" law|strong="G3551", ‘I|strong="G1473" said|strong="G3004", you|strong="G5210" are|strong="G1510" gods|strong="G2316"’? 35 If|strong="G1487" he|strong="G2532" called|strong="G3004" them|strong="G3588" gods|strong="G2316", to|strong="G4314" whom|strong="G3739" the|strong="G2532" word|strong="G3056" of|strong="G3056" God|strong="G2316" came|strong="G1096" (and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" Scripture|strong="G1124" can|strong="G1410"’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G1096" broken|strong="G3089"), 36 do|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" say|strong="G3004" of|strong="G5207" him|strong="G3588" whom|strong="G3739" the|strong="G2532" Father|strong="G3962" sanctified and|strong="G2532" sent|strong="G2316" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" world|strong="G2889", ‘You|strong="G5210" blaspheme,’ because|strong="G3754" I|strong="G3739" said|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G3739" am|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" God|strong="G2316"’? 37 If|strong="G1487" I|strong="G1473" don’t|strong="G3588" do|strong="G4160" the|strong="G3588" works|strong="G2041" of|strong="G3962" my|strong="G1473" Father|strong="G3962", don’t|strong="G3588" believe|strong="G4100" me|strong="G1473". 38 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" I|strong="G1473" do|strong="G4160" them|strong="G3588", though|strong="G1487" you|strong="G1487" don’t|strong="G3588" believe|strong="G4100" me|strong="G1473", believe|strong="G4100" the|strong="G1722" works|strong="G2041", that|strong="G3754" you|strong="G1487" may|strong="G2532" know|strong="G1097" and|strong="G2532" believe|strong="G4100" that|strong="G3754" the|strong="G1722" Father|strong="G3962" is|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" me|strong="G1473", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" Father|strong="G3962".” 39 They sought again to seize him, and he went out of their hand. 40 He went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was baptizing at first, and he stayed there. 41 Many came to him. They said, “John indeed did no sign, but everything that John said about this man is true.” 42 Many believed in him there.
