1 When Jesus had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities. 2 Now when John heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples 3 and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?” 4 Jesus answered them, “Go|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" John|strong="G2491" the|strong="G2532" things|strong="G3588" which|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" hear and|strong="G2532" see: 5 the|strong="G2532" blind|strong="G5185" receive their|strong="G2532" sight, the|strong="G2532" lame|strong="G5560" walk|strong="G4043", the|strong="G2532" lepers|strong="G3015" are|strong="G2532" cleansed|strong="G2511", the|strong="G2532" deaf|strong="G2974" hear, the|strong="G2532" dead|strong="G3498" are|strong="G2532" raised|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" poor|strong="G4434" have|strong="G2532" good|strong="G2097" news|strong="G2097" preached|strong="G2097" to|strong="G2532" them|strong="G2532". 6 Blessed|strong="G3107" is|strong="G1510" he|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3739" finds no|strong="G3361" occasion for|strong="G1722" stumbling|strong="G4624" in|strong="G1722" me|strong="G1473".” 7 As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, “What|strong="G5101" did|strong="G5101" you|strong="G3004" go|strong="G4198" out|strong="G1831" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G1519" wilderness|strong="G2048" to|strong="G1519" see|strong="G2300"? A|strong="G1722" man|strong="G5101" in|strong="G1722" soft|strong="G3120" clothing? Behold|strong="G2400", those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G5101" wear|strong="G5409" soft|strong="G3120" clothing are|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" kings|strong="G3588"’ houses|strong="G3624". 9 But|strong="G2532" why|strong="G5101" did|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" go|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831"? To|strong="G2532" see|strong="G3708" a|strong="G2532" prophet|strong="G4396"? Woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210", Bethsaida!
