Luke 11

1 When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.” 2 He said to them, “When|strong="G3752" you|strong="G4771" pray|strong="G4336", say|strong="G3004", ‘Our|strong="G1161" Father|strong="G3962" in|strong="G3004" heaven, may|strong="G3004" your|strong="G3588" name|strong="G3686" be|strong="G3588" kept holy. May|strong="G3004" your|strong="G3588" Kingdom come|strong="G2064". May|strong="G3004" your|strong="G3588" will|strong="G2064" be|strong="G3588" done on|strong="G1161" earth, as|strong="G1161" it|strong="G1161" is|strong="G3588" in|strong="G3004" heaven. 3 Give|strong="G1325" us|strong="G1325" day|strong="G2250" by|strong="G2596" day|strong="G2250" our|strong="G2596" daily|strong="G2250" bread. 4 Forgive us|strong="G1519" our|strong="G2532" sins, for|strong="G1063" we|strong="G2249" ourselves|strong="G2249" also|strong="G2532" forgive everyone|strong="G3956" who|strong="G3588" is|strong="G3588" indebted|strong="G3784" to|strong="G1519" us|strong="G1519". Bring|strong="G1533" us|strong="G1519" not|strong="G3361" into|strong="G1519" temptation|strong="G3986", but|strong="G2532" deliver us|strong="G1519" from|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" evil|strong="G2532" one|strong="G3956".’” 5 He said to them, “Which|strong="G5101" of|strong="G1537" you|strong="G5210", if|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" go|strong="G4198" to|strong="G4314" a|strong="G2192" friend|strong="G5384" at|strong="G4314" midnight|strong="G3317" and|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" him|strong="G2532", ‘Friend|strong="G5384", lend|strong="G5531" me|strong="G1473" three|strong="G5140" loaves of|strong="G1537" bread, 6 for|strong="G4314" a|strong="G2192" friend|strong="G5384" of|strong="G1537" mine|strong="G1473" has|strong="G2192" come|strong="G3854" to|strong="G4314" me|strong="G1473" from|strong="G1537" a|strong="G2192" journey|strong="G3598", and|strong="G2532" I|strong="G1473" have|strong="G2192" nothing|strong="G3756" to|strong="G4314" set|strong="G3908" before|strong="G4314" him|strong="G3739",’ 7 and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" from|strong="G2532" within|strong="G2081" will|strong="G1510" answer and|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", ‘Don’t|strong="G3588" bother|strong="G2873" me|strong="G1325". The|strong="G2532" door|strong="G2374" is|strong="G1510" now|strong="G2532" shut|strong="G2808", and|strong="G2532" my|strong="G1325" children|strong="G3813" are|strong="G1510" with|strong="G3326" me|strong="G1325" in|strong="G1519" bed|strong="G2845". I|strong="G1473" can|strong="G1410"’t|strong="G3588" get|strong="G2532" up|strong="G1519" and|strong="G2532" give|strong="G1325" it|strong="G2532" to|strong="G1519" you|strong="G4771"’? 8 I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", although|strong="G5210" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" rise|strong="G1453" and|strong="G2532" give|strong="G1325" it|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" because|strong="G1223" he|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" his|strong="G1223" friend|strong="G5384", yet|strong="G2532" because|strong="G1223" of|strong="G1223" his|strong="G1223" persistence, he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" get|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453" and|strong="G2532" give|strong="G1325" him|strong="G3588" as|strong="G3745" many|strong="G3745" as|strong="G3745" he|strong="G2532" needs|strong="G5535". 9 “I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", keep asking|strong="G3004", and|strong="G2532" it|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" given|strong="G1325" you|strong="G5210". Keep seeking|strong="G2212", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G2532" find|strong="G2147". Keep knocking|strong="G2925", and|strong="G2532" it|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" opened to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210". 10 For|strong="G1063" everyone|strong="G3956" who|strong="G3588" asks receives|strong="G2983". He|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3588" seeks|strong="G2212" finds|strong="G2147". To|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" knocks|strong="G2925" it|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" opened. 11 “Which|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1537" you|strong="G5210" fathers|strong="G3962", if|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" son|strong="G5207" asks for|strong="G1161" bread, will|strong="G5101" give|strong="G1929" him|strong="G3588" a|strong="G2532" stone|strong="G3037"? Or|strong="G2228" if|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" asks for|strong="G1161" a|strong="G2532" fish|strong="G2486", he|strong="G2532" won’t|strong="G3588" give|strong="G1929" him|strong="G3588" a|strong="G2532" snake|strong="G3789" instead|strong="G1161" of|strong="G1537" a|strong="G2532" fish|strong="G2486", will|strong="G5101" he|strong="G2532"? 12 Or|strong="G2228" if|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" asks for|strong="G2532" an|strong="G2532" egg|strong="G5609", he|strong="G2532" won’t give|strong="G1929" him|strong="G2532" a|strong="G2532" scorpion|strong="G4651", will|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532"? 13 If|strong="G1487" you|strong="G5210" then|strong="G3767", being|strong="G5225" evil|strong="G4190", know|strong="G1492" how|strong="G4214" to|strong="G1325" give|strong="G1325" good|strong="G3588" gifts|strong="G1390" to|strong="G1325" your|strong="G1487" children|strong="G5043", how|strong="G4214" much|strong="G4214" more|strong="G3123" will|strong="G3962" your|strong="G1487" heavenly|strong="G3772" Father|strong="G3962" give|strong="G1325" the|strong="G1537" Holy|strong="G4151" Spirit|strong="G4151" to|strong="G1325" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" ask him|strong="G3588"?” 14 He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled. 15 But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.” 16 Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every|strong="G3956" kingdom divided|strong="G1266" against|strong="G1909" itself|strong="G1438" is|strong="G3588" brought|strong="G1161" to|strong="G2532" desolation. A|strong="G2532" house|strong="G3624" divided|strong="G1266" against|strong="G1909" itself|strong="G1438" falls|strong="G4098". 18 If|strong="G1487" Satan|strong="G4567" also|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" divided|strong="G1266" against|strong="G1909" himself|strong="G1438", how|strong="G4459" will|strong="G2532" his|strong="G1438" kingdom stand|strong="G2476"? For|strong="G3754" you|strong="G1487" say|strong="G3004" that|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" cast|strong="G1544" out|strong="G1544" demons|strong="G1140" by|strong="G1722" Beelzebul. 19 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" I|strong="G1473" cast|strong="G1544" out|strong="G1544" demons|strong="G1140" by|strong="G1223" Beelzebul, by|strong="G1223" whom|strong="G5101" do|strong="G5101" your|strong="G1223" children|strong="G5207" cast|strong="G1544" them|strong="G3588" out|strong="G1544"? Therefore|strong="G1223" they|strong="G1161" will|strong="G5101" be|strong="G1510" your|strong="G1223" judges|strong="G2923". 20 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" I|strong="G1161" by|strong="G1722" God|strong="G2316"’s finger|strong="G1147" cast|strong="G1544" out|strong="G1544" demons|strong="G1140", then|strong="G1161" God|strong="G2316"’s Kingdom has|strong="G2316" come|strong="G5348" to|strong="G1909" you|strong="G5210". 21 “When|strong="G3752" the|strong="G1722" strong|strong="G2478" man|strong="G2478", fully|strong="G2528" armed|strong="G2528", guards|strong="G5442" his|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" dwelling, his|strong="G1438" goods are|strong="G1510" safe|strong="G1722". 22 But|strong="G1161" when|strong="G1161" someone|strong="G3739" stronger|strong="G2478" attacks|strong="G1904" him|strong="G3588" and|strong="G2532" overcomes|strong="G3528" him|strong="G3588", he|strong="G2532" takes from|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" his|strong="G1909" whole armor|strong="G3833" in|strong="G1909" which|strong="G3739" he|strong="G2532" trusted|strong="G3982", and|strong="G2532" divides his|strong="G1909" plunder|strong="G4661". 23 “He|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3361" with|strong="G3326" me|strong="G1473" is|strong="G1510" against|strong="G2596" me|strong="G1473". He|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3588" doesn’t|strong="G3588" gather|strong="G4863" with|strong="G3326" me|strong="G1473" scatters|strong="G4650". 24 The|strong="G2532" unclean spirit|strong="G4151", when|strong="G3752" he|strong="G2532" has|strong="G4151" gone|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831" of|strong="G4151" the|strong="G2532" man|strong="G3361", passes|strong="G1330" through|strong="G1223" dry places|strong="G5117", seeking|strong="G2212" rest; and|strong="G2532" finding|strong="G2147" none|strong="G3361", he|strong="G2532" says|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" turn|strong="G5290" back|strong="G5290" to|strong="G1519" my|strong="G2212" house|strong="G3624" from|strong="G2532" which|strong="G3588" I|strong="G1473" came|strong="G1831" out|strong="G1831".’ 25 When|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" returns, he|strong="G2532" finds|strong="G2147" it|strong="G2532" swept|strong="G4563" and|strong="G2532" put|strong="G2885" in|strong="G2532" order|strong="G2885". 26 Then|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" goes|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" takes|strong="G3880" seven|strong="G2033" other|strong="G2087" spirits|strong="G4151" more|strong="G2532" evil|strong="G4190" than|strong="G2532" himself|strong="G1438", and|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" enter|strong="G1525" in|strong="G1525" and|strong="G2532" dwell|strong="G2730" there|strong="G1563". The|strong="G2532" last|strong="G2078" state of|strong="G4151" that|strong="G3588" man|strong="G4413" becomes|strong="G1096" worse|strong="G5501" than|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" first|strong="G4413".” 27 It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!” 28 But he said, “On|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" contrary|strong="G2316", blessed|strong="G3107" are|strong="G3588" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" hear the|strong="G2532" word|strong="G3056" of|strong="G3056" God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" keep|strong="G5442" it|strong="G2532".” 29 When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say, “This|strong="G3778" is|strong="G1510" an|strong="G2532" evil|strong="G4190" generation|strong="G1074". It|strong="G2532" seeks|strong="G2212" after|strong="G1161" a|strong="G2532" sign|strong="G4592". No|strong="G3756" sign|strong="G4592" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" given|strong="G1325" to|strong="G2532" it|strong="G2532" but|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" sign|strong="G4592" of|strong="G2532" Jonah|strong="G2495" the|strong="G2532" prophet. 30 For|strong="G1063" even|strong="G2532" as|strong="G2531" Jonah|strong="G2495" became|strong="G1096" a|strong="G1096" sign|strong="G4592" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" Ninevites|strong="G3536", so|strong="G3779" the|strong="G2532" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G3778" will|strong="G1510" also|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1096" to|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778" generation|strong="G1074". 31 The|strong="G1722" Queen of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" South|strong="G3558" will|strong="G2532" rise|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" judgment|strong="G2920" with|strong="G3326" the|strong="G1722" men|strong="G3778" of|strong="G1537" this|strong="G3778" generation|strong="G1074" and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" condemn|strong="G2632" them|strong="G3588", for|strong="G3754" she|strong="G2532" came|strong="G2064" from|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" ends|strong="G4009" of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" earth|strong="G1093" to|strong="G2532" hear the|strong="G1722" wisdom|strong="G4678" of|strong="G1537" Solomon|strong="G4672"; and|strong="G2532" behold|strong="G2400", one|strong="G1438" greater|strong="G4183" than|strong="G4183" Solomon|strong="G4672" is|strong="G3588" here|strong="G5602". 32 The|strong="G1722" men|strong="G3778" of|strong="G2532" Nineveh|strong="G3536" will|strong="G2532" stand|strong="G3778" up|strong="G1519" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" judgment|strong="G2920" with|strong="G3326" this|strong="G3778" generation|strong="G1074", and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" condemn|strong="G2632" it|strong="G2532", for|strong="G3754" they|strong="G2532" repented|strong="G3340" at|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" preaching|strong="G2782" of|strong="G2532" Jonah|strong="G2495"; and|strong="G2532" behold|strong="G2400", one|strong="G1438" greater|strong="G4183" than|strong="G4183" Jonah|strong="G2495" is|strong="G3588" here|strong="G5602". 33 “No|strong="G3762" one|strong="G3762", when|strong="G5259" he|strong="G3588" has|strong="G3762" lit a|strong="G1519" lamp|strong="G3088", puts|strong="G5087" it|strong="G5087" in|strong="G1519" a|strong="G1519" cellar|strong="G2926" or|strong="G3761" under|strong="G5259" a|strong="G1519" basket|strong="G3426", but|strong="G3762" on|strong="G1909" a|strong="G1519" stand, that|strong="G2443" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" come|strong="G1531" in|strong="G1519" may|strong="G2443" see the|strong="G1519" light|strong="G5338". 34 The|strong="G2532" lamp|strong="G3088" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" body|strong="G4983" is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G2532" eye|strong="G3788". Therefore|strong="G1161" when|strong="G3752" your|strong="G3650" eye|strong="G3788" is|strong="G1510" good|strong="G3588", your|strong="G3650" whole|strong="G3650" body|strong="G4983" is|strong="G1510" also|strong="G2532" full|strong="G5460" of|strong="G2532" light|strong="G3088"; but|strong="G1161" when|strong="G3752" it|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" evil|strong="G4190", your|strong="G3650" body|strong="G4983" also|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" full|strong="G5460" of|strong="G2532" darkness|strong="G4652". 35 Therefore|strong="G3767" see|strong="G4648" whether the|strong="G1722" light|strong="G5457" that|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" in|strong="G1722" you|strong="G4771" isn’t|strong="G3588" darkness|strong="G4655". 36 If|strong="G1487" therefore|strong="G3767" your|strong="G3650" whole|strong="G3650" body|strong="G4983" is|strong="G1510" full|strong="G5460" of|strong="G5100" light|strong="G5461", having|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3361" part|strong="G3313" dark|strong="G4652", it|strong="G1487" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" wholly|strong="G3650" full|strong="G5460" of|strong="G5100" light|strong="G5461", as|strong="G5613" when|strong="G3752" the|strong="G3588" lamp|strong="G3088" with|strong="G2192" its|strong="G3752" bright|strong="G5460" shining gives you|strong="G4771" light|strong="G5461".” 37 Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in and sat at the table. 38 When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner. 39 The Lord said to him, “Now|strong="G1161" you|strong="G5210" Pharisees|strong="G5330" cleanse|strong="G2511" the|strong="G2532" outside|strong="G1855" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" cup|strong="G4221" and|strong="G2532" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" platter|strong="G4094", but|strong="G1161" your|strong="G2962" inward|strong="G2081" part|strong="G1161" is|strong="G3588" full|strong="G1073" of|strong="G2532" extortion and|strong="G2532" wickedness|strong="G4189". 40 You|strong="G4160" foolish|strong="G2532" ones, didn’t|strong="G3588" he|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3588" made|strong="G4160" the|strong="G2532" outside|strong="G1855" make|strong="G4160" the|strong="G2532" inside|strong="G2081" also|strong="G2532"? 41 But|strong="G2532" give|strong="G1325" for|strong="G2532" gifts|strong="G1654" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" needy those|strong="G3588" things|strong="G3956" which|strong="G3588" are|strong="G1510" within|strong="G1751", and|strong="G2532" behold|strong="G2400", all|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" clean|strong="G2513" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210". 42 But|strong="G1161" woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" Pharisees|strong="G5330"! For|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" tithe mint|strong="G2238" and|strong="G2532" rue|strong="G4076" and|strong="G2532" every|strong="G3956" herb|strong="G3001", but|strong="G1161" you|strong="G5210" bypass justice|strong="G2920" and|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316"’s love. You|strong="G5210" ought|strong="G1163" to|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" done|strong="G4160" these|strong="G3778", and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3361" to|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" left|strong="G2548" the|strong="G2532" other|strong="G1161" undone. 43 Woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" Pharisees|strong="G5330"! For|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" love the|strong="G1722" best seats|strong="G4410" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" synagogues|strong="G4864" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" greetings in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" marketplaces. 44 Woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210", scribes and|strong="G2532" Pharisees, hypocrites! For|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" are|strong="G1510" like|strong="G5613" hidden graves|strong="G3419", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" men|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" walk|strong="G4043" over|strong="G1883" them|strong="G3588" don’t|strong="G3588" know|strong="G1492" it|strong="G2532".” 45 One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.” 46 He said, “Woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" lawyers|strong="G3544" also|strong="G2532"! For|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" load|strong="G5413" men|strong="G3588" with|strong="G2532" burdens|strong="G5413" that|strong="G3754" are|strong="G3588" difficult to|strong="G2532" carry, and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" yourselves|strong="G4771" won’t|strong="G3588" even|strong="G2532" lift one|strong="G1520" finger|strong="G1147" to|strong="G2532" help carry those|strong="G3588" burdens|strong="G5413". 47 Woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210"! For|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" build|strong="G3618" the|strong="G2532" tombs|strong="G3419" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" prophets|strong="G4396", and|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" fathers|strong="G3962" killed them|strong="G3588". 48 So|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" testify|strong="G3144" and|strong="G2532" consent to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" works|strong="G2041" of|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" fathers|strong="G3962". For|strong="G3754" they|strong="G2532" killed them|strong="G3588", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" build|strong="G3618" their|strong="G1438" tombs. 49 Therefore|strong="G1223" also|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" wisdom|strong="G4678" of|strong="G1537" God|strong="G2316" said|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" send to|strong="G1519" them|strong="G3588" prophets|strong="G4396" and|strong="G2532" apostles; and|strong="G2532" some|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1537" them|strong="G3588" they|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" kill and|strong="G2532" persecute|strong="G1377", 50 that|strong="G2443" the|strong="G3956" blood of|strong="G3956" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" prophets|strong="G4396", which|strong="G3588" was|strong="G3588" shed|strong="G1632" from|strong="G3588" the|strong="G3956" foundation|strong="G2602" of|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" world|strong="G2889", may|strong="G2443" be|strong="G3956" required of|strong="G3956" this|strong="G3778" generation|strong="G1074", 51 from|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" blood of|strong="G2532" Abel to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" blood of|strong="G2532" Zachariah, who|strong="G3588" perished between|strong="G3342" the|strong="G2532" altar|strong="G2379" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" sanctuary.’ Yes|strong="G3483", I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", it|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" required of|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778" generation|strong="G1074". 52 Woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" lawyers|strong="G3544"! For|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" took|strong="G2532" away the|strong="G2532" key|strong="G2807" of|strong="G2532" knowledge|strong="G1108". You|strong="G5210" didn’t|strong="G3588" enter|strong="G1525" in|strong="G1525" yourselves|strong="G4771", and|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" were|strong="G3588" entering|strong="G1525" in|strong="G1525", you|strong="G5210" hindered|strong="G2967".” 53 As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him, 54 lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
