Luke 21

1 He looked up and saw the rich people who were putting their gifts into the treasury. 2 He saw a certain poor widow casting in two small brass coins. 3 He said, “Truly I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", this|strong="G3778" poor|strong="G4434" widow|strong="G5503" put|strong="G2532" in|strong="G2532" more|strong="G4119" than|strong="G4183" all|strong="G3956" of|strong="G2532" them|strong="G3588", 4 for|strong="G1063" all|strong="G3956" these|strong="G3778" put|strong="G3956" in|strong="G1519" gifts|strong="G1435" for|strong="G1063" God|strong="G1519" from|strong="G1537" their|strong="G3956" abundance|strong="G4052", but|strong="G1161" she|strong="G1161", out|strong="G1537" of|strong="G1537" her|strong="G1519" poverty|strong="G5303", put|strong="G3956" in|strong="G1519" all|strong="G3956" that|strong="G3739" she|strong="G1161" had|strong="G2192" to|strong="G1519" live|strong="G2192" on|strong="G1519".” 5 As some were talking about the temple and how it was decorated with beautiful stones and gifts, he said, 6 “As|strong="G1722" for|strong="G1909" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778" which|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" see|strong="G2334", the|strong="G1722" days|strong="G2250" will|strong="G3739" come|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1722" which|strong="G3739" there|strong="G1722" will|strong="G3739" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G3756" left here|strong="G3778" one|strong="G3739" stone|strong="G3037" on|strong="G1909" another|strong="G3037" that|strong="G3739" will|strong="G3739" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G3756" thrown down|strong="G2647".” 7 They asked him, “Teacher, so when will these things be? What is the sign that these things are about to happen?” 8 He said, “Watch out|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3588" you|strong="G3004" don’t|strong="G3588" get|strong="G2532" led|strong="G4105" astray|strong="G4105", for|strong="G1063" many|strong="G4183" will|strong="G1510" come|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1909" my|strong="G1473" name|strong="G3686", saying|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" he|strong="G2532",’ and|strong="G2532", ‘The|strong="G2532" time|strong="G2540" is|strong="G1510" at|strong="G1909" hand|strong="G1448".’ Therefore|strong="G1161" don’t|strong="G3588" follow|strong="G3694" them|strong="G3588". 9 When|strong="G3752" you|strong="G3752" hear of|strong="G2532" wars|strong="G4171" and|strong="G2532" disturbances, don’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G1096" terrified|strong="G4422", for|strong="G1063" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778" must|strong="G1163" happen|strong="G1096" first|strong="G4413", but|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" end|strong="G5056" won’t|strong="G3588" come|strong="G1096" immediately|strong="G2112".” 10 Then he said to them, “Nation|strong="G1484" will|strong="G2532" rise|strong="G1453" against|strong="G1909" nation|strong="G1484", and|strong="G2532" kingdom against|strong="G1909" kingdom. 11 There|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" great|strong="G3173" earthquakes|strong="G4578", famines|strong="G3042", and|strong="G2532" plagues|strong="G3061" in|strong="G2596" various|strong="G2596" places|strong="G5117". There|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" terrors|strong="G5400" and|strong="G2532" great|strong="G3173" signs|strong="G4592" from|strong="G2532" heaven|strong="G3772". 12 But|strong="G1161" before|strong="G4253" all|strong="G3956" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3956", they|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" lay|strong="G1911" their|strong="G2532" hands|strong="G5495" on|strong="G1909" you|strong="G5210" and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" persecute|strong="G1377" you|strong="G5210", delivering|strong="G3860" you|strong="G5210" up|strong="G3860" to|strong="G1519" synagogues|strong="G4864" and|strong="G2532" prisons|strong="G5438", bringing you|strong="G5210" before|strong="G4253" kings|strong="G3588" and|strong="G2532" governors|strong="G2232" for|strong="G1519" my|strong="G3956" name|strong="G3686"’s sake|strong="G1752". 13 It|strong="G1519" will|strong="G4771" turn out|strong="G1519" as|strong="G1519" a|strong="G1519" testimony|strong="G3142" for|strong="G1519" you|strong="G5210". 14 Settle|strong="G5087" it|strong="G5087" therefore|strong="G3767" in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G5087" hearts|strong="G2588" not|strong="G3361" to|strong="G1722" meditate beforehand|strong="G4304" how|strong="G1722" to|strong="G1722" answer, 15 for|strong="G1063" I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" give|strong="G1325" you|strong="G5210" a|strong="G2532" mouth|strong="G4750" and|strong="G2532" wisdom|strong="G4678" which|strong="G3739" all|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" adversaries will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G2532" able|strong="G1410" to|strong="G2532" withstand or|strong="G2228" to|strong="G2532" contradict. 16 You|strong="G5210" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" handed|strong="G3860" over|strong="G3860" even|strong="G2532" by|strong="G5259" parents|strong="G1118", brothers, relatives|strong="G4773", and|strong="G2532" friends|strong="G5384". They|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" cause|strong="G2289" some|strong="G1537" of|strong="G1537" you|strong="G5210" to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" put|strong="G2289" to|strong="G2532" death|strong="G2289". 17 You|strong="G1510" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" hated|strong="G3404" by|strong="G1223" all|strong="G3956" men|strong="G3956" for|strong="G1223" my|strong="G3956" name|strong="G3686"’s sake|strong="G1223". 18 And|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" a|strong="G2532" hair|strong="G2359" of|strong="G1537" your|strong="G2532" head|strong="G2776" will|strong="G2532" perish. 19 “By|strong="G1722" your|strong="G1722" endurance|strong="G5281" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5590" win your|strong="G1722" lives|strong="G5590". 20 “But|strong="G1161" when|strong="G3752" you|strong="G3752" see|strong="G3708" Jerusalem|strong="G2419" surrounded|strong="G2944" by|strong="G5259" armies|strong="G4760", then|strong="G5119" know|strong="G1097" that|strong="G3754" its|strong="G3752" desolation|strong="G2050" is|strong="G3588" at|strong="G1161" hand|strong="G1448". 21 Then|strong="G2532" let|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" Judea|strong="G2449" flee|strong="G5343" to|strong="G1519" the|strong="G1722" mountains|strong="G3735". Let|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" middle|strong="G3319" of|strong="G2532" her|strong="G1438" depart. Let|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" country|strong="G5561" not|strong="G3361" enter|strong="G1525" therein|strong="G1722". 22 For|strong="G3754" these|strong="G3778" are|strong="G1510" days|strong="G2250" of|strong="G2250" vengeance|strong="G1557", that|strong="G3754" all|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956" which|strong="G3588" are|strong="G1510" written|strong="G1125" may|strong="G3956" be|strong="G1510" fulfilled. 23 Woe|strong="G3759" to|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" are|strong="G1510" pregnant|strong="G1064" and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" nurse infants in|strong="G1722" those|strong="G3588" days|strong="G2250"! For|strong="G1063" there|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" great|strong="G3173" distress in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" land|strong="G1093" and|strong="G2532" wrath|strong="G3709" to|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778" people|strong="G2992". 24 They|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" fall|strong="G4098" by|strong="G5259" the|strong="G2532" edge|strong="G4750" of|strong="G5259" the|strong="G2532" sword|strong="G3162", and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" led captive into|strong="G1519" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G2532" nations|strong="G1484". Jerusalem|strong="G2419" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" trampled|strong="G3961" down|strong="G4098" by|strong="G5259" the|strong="G2532" Gentiles|strong="G1484" until|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" times|strong="G2540" of|strong="G5259" the|strong="G2532" Gentiles|strong="G1484" are|strong="G1510" fulfilled|strong="G4137". 25 “There|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" signs|strong="G4592" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" sun|strong="G2246", moon|strong="G4582", and|strong="G2532" stars; and|strong="G2532" on|strong="G1909" the|strong="G1722" earth|strong="G1093" anxiety of|strong="G2532" nations|strong="G1484", in|strong="G1722" perplexity for|strong="G1909" the|strong="G1722" roaring|strong="G2279" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" sea|strong="G2281" and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" waves|strong="G4535"; 26 men|strong="G3588" fainting for|strong="G1063" fear|strong="G5401" and|strong="G2532" for|strong="G1063" expectation|strong="G4329" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" things|strong="G3588" which|strong="G3588" are|strong="G3588" coming|strong="G1904" on|strong="G5401" the|strong="G2532" world|strong="G3625", for|strong="G1063" the|strong="G2532" powers|strong="G1411" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" heavens|strong="G3772" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" shaken|strong="G4531". 27 Then|strong="G2532" they|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" see|strong="G3708" the|strong="G1722" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G5207" coming|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1722" a|strong="G2532" cloud|strong="G3507" with|strong="G3326" power|strong="G1411" and|strong="G2532" great|strong="G4183" glory|strong="G1391". 28 But|strong="G1161" when|strong="G1161" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778" begin to|strong="G2532" happen|strong="G1096", look|strong="G1096" up|strong="G1869" and|strong="G2532" lift|strong="G1869" up|strong="G1869" your|strong="G2532" heads|strong="G2776", because|strong="G1360" your|strong="G2532" redemption is|strong="G3588" near|strong="G1448".” 29 He told them a parable. “See|strong="G3708" the|strong="G2532" fig|strong="G4808" tree|strong="G1186" and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G2532" trees|strong="G1186". 30 When|strong="G3752" they|strong="G3588" are|strong="G1510" already|strong="G2235" budding, you|strong="G3752" see|strong="G1097" it|strong="G3754" and|strong="G3588" know|strong="G1097" by|strong="G1097" your|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" selves|strong="G1438" that|strong="G3754" the|strong="G3588" summer|strong="G2330" is|strong="G1510" already|strong="G2235" near|strong="G1451". 31 Even|strong="G2532" so|strong="G3779" you|strong="G5210" also|strong="G2532", when|strong="G3752" you|strong="G5210" see|strong="G3708" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778" happening|strong="G1096", know|strong="G1097" that|strong="G3754" God|strong="G2316"’s Kingdom is|strong="G1510" near|strong="G1451". 32 Most certainly|strong="G3756" I|strong="G3754" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", this|strong="G3778" generation|strong="G1074" will|strong="G3956" not|strong="G3756" pass|strong="G1096" away|strong="G3928" until|strong="G2193" all|strong="G3956" things|strong="G3956" are|strong="G3588" accomplished|strong="G1096". 33 Heaven|strong="G3772" and|strong="G2532" earth|strong="G1093" will|strong="G2532" pass|strong="G3928" away|strong="G3928", but|strong="G1161" my|strong="G1473" words|strong="G3056" will|strong="G2532" by|strong="G2532" no|strong="G3756" means|strong="G3361" pass|strong="G3928" away|strong="G3928". 34 “So|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" careful|strong="G4337", or|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" hearts|strong="G2588" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" loaded down with|strong="G1722" carousing, drunkenness|strong="G3178", and|strong="G2532" cares|strong="G3308" of|strong="G2250" this|strong="G3588" life, and|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3588" day|strong="G2250" will|strong="G2532" come|strong="G2186" on|strong="G1909" you|strong="G5210" suddenly. 35 For|strong="G1063" it|strong="G1063" will|strong="G3956" come|strong="G1904" like|strong="G5613" a|strong="G5613" snare|strong="G3803" on|strong="G1909" all|strong="G3956" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" dwell|strong="G2521" on|strong="G1909" the|strong="G3956" surface of|strong="G1909" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" earth|strong="G1093". 36 Therefore|strong="G1161" be|strong="G1096" watchful all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G1722" time|strong="G2540", praying|strong="G1189" that|strong="G2443" you|strong="G1722" may|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1096" counted worthy to|strong="G2443" escape|strong="G1628" all|strong="G3956" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3956" that|strong="G2443" will|strong="G3195" happen|strong="G1096", and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2443" stand|strong="G2476" before|strong="G1715" the|strong="G1722" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G3778".” 37 Every day Jesus was teaching in the temple, and every night he would go out and spend the night on the mountain that is called Olivet. 38 All the people came early in the morning to him in the temple to hear him.
