Luke 12

1 Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, “Beware|strong="G4337" of|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" yeast|strong="G2219" of|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" Pharisees|strong="G5330", which|strong="G3739" is|strong="G1510" hypocrisy|strong="G5272". 2 But|strong="G1161" there|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" nothing|strong="G3762" covered|strong="G4780" up|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G1510" revealed, nor|strong="G2532" hidden|strong="G2927" that|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G1510" known|strong="G1097". 3 Therefore|strong="G2532" whatever|strong="G3745" you|strong="G3739" have|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" darkness|strong="G4653" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" heard in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" light|strong="G5457". What|strong="G3739" you|strong="G3739" have|strong="G2532" spoken|strong="G2980" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" ear|strong="G3775" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" inner|strong="G5009" rooms|strong="G5009" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" proclaimed|strong="G2784" on|strong="G1909" the|strong="G1722" housetops|strong="G1430". 4 “I|strong="G1473" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", my|strong="G1473" friends|strong="G5384", don’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G2532" afraid|strong="G5399" of|strong="G2532" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3588" kill the|strong="G2532" body|strong="G4983", and|strong="G2532" after|strong="G3326" that|strong="G3588" have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3361" more|strong="G2192" that|strong="G3588" they|strong="G2532" can|strong="G3004" do|strong="G4160". 5 But|strong="G1161" I|strong="G1161" will|strong="G5101" warn|strong="G5263" you|strong="G5210" whom|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" should|strong="G3588" fear|strong="G5399". Fear|strong="G5399" him|strong="G3588" who|strong="G5101" after|strong="G3326" he|strong="G1161" has|strong="G2192" killed, has|strong="G2192" power|strong="G1849" to|strong="G1519" cast|strong="G1685" into|strong="G1519" Gehenna. Therefore|strong="G2532" don’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G2532" afraid|strong="G5399". You|strong="G5210" are|strong="G3588" of|strong="G2532" more|strong="G4183" value than|strong="G4183" many|strong="G4183" sparrows|strong="G4765". 8 “I|strong="G1473" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", everyone|strong="G3956" who|strong="G3739" confesses|strong="G3670" me|strong="G1473" before|strong="G1715" men|strong="G3956", the|strong="G1722" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G3956" will|strong="G2316" also|strong="G2532" confess|strong="G3670" before|strong="G1715" the|strong="G1722" angels of|strong="G5207" God|strong="G2316"; 9 but|strong="G1161" he|strong="G1161" who|strong="G3588" denies me|strong="G1473" in|strong="G2316" the|strong="G1161" presence|strong="G1799" of|strong="G2316" men|strong="G3588" will|strong="G2316" be|strong="G2316" denied in|strong="G2316" the|strong="G1161" presence|strong="G1799" of|strong="G2316" God|strong="G2316"’s angels. 10 Everyone|strong="G3956" who|strong="G3739" speaks|strong="G3004" a|strong="G2532" word|strong="G3056" against|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G3956" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" forgiven, but|strong="G1161" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3739" blaspheme against|strong="G1519" the|strong="G2532" Holy|strong="G4151" Spirit|strong="G4151" will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G2532" forgiven. 11 When|strong="G3752" they|strong="G2532" bring|strong="G1533" you|strong="G5210" before|strong="G1909" the|strong="G2532" synagogues|strong="G4864", the|strong="G2532" rulers, and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" authorities|strong="G1849", don’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G2532" anxious|strong="G3309" how|strong="G4459" or|strong="G2228" what|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" answer or|strong="G2228" what|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" say|strong="G3004"; 12 for|strong="G1063" the|strong="G1722" Holy|strong="G4151" Spirit|strong="G4151" will|strong="G3739" teach|strong="G1321" you|strong="G5210" in|strong="G1722" that|strong="G3739" same|strong="G3739" hour|strong="G5610" what|strong="G3739" you|strong="G5210" must|strong="G1163" say|strong="G3004".” 13 One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” 14 But he said to him, “Man|strong="G5101", who|strong="G5101" made|strong="G2525" me|strong="G1473" a|strong="G1909" judge|strong="G2923" or|strong="G2228" an|strong="G2228" arbitrator|strong="G3312" over|strong="G1909" you|strong="G5210"?” 15 He said to them, “Beware|strong="G5442"! Keep|strong="G5442" yourselves|strong="G1438" from|strong="G1537" covetousness|strong="G4124", for|strong="G3754" a|strong="G2532" man|strong="G5100"’s life|strong="G2222" doesn’t|strong="G3588" consist|strong="G1510" of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" abundance|strong="G4052" of|strong="G1537" the|strong="G1722" things|strong="G3956" which|strong="G3588" he|strong="G2532" possesses.” 16 He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The|strong="G1161" ground of|strong="G5100" a|strong="G1161" certain|strong="G5100" rich|strong="G4145" man|strong="G5100" produced abundantly. 17 He|strong="G2532" reasoned|strong="G1260" within|strong="G1722" himself|strong="G1438", saying|strong="G3004", ‘What|strong="G5101" will|strong="G5101" I|strong="G1473" do|strong="G4160", because|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" don’t|strong="G3588" have|strong="G2192" room to|strong="G2532" store|strong="G4863" my|strong="G1722" crops|strong="G2590"?’ 18 He|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", ‘This|strong="G3778" is|strong="G3588" what|strong="G3588" I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" do|strong="G4160". I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" pull down|strong="G2507" my|strong="G3956" barns, build|strong="G3618" bigger ones|strong="G3173", and|strong="G2532" there|strong="G1563" I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" store|strong="G4863" all|strong="G3956" my|strong="G3956" grain and|strong="G2532" my|strong="G3956" goods. 19 I|strong="G1473" will|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" my|strong="G1473" soul|strong="G5590", “Soul|strong="G5590", you|strong="G3004" have|strong="G2192" many|strong="G4183" goods laid|strong="G2749" up|strong="G1519" for|strong="G1519" many|strong="G4183" years|strong="G2094". Take|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2192" ease, eat|strong="G2068", drink|strong="G4095", and|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" merry|strong="G2165".”’ 20 “But|strong="G1161" God|strong="G2316" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G3004" him|strong="G3588", ‘You|strong="G4771" foolish one|strong="G3739", tonight|strong="G3571" your|strong="G3588" soul|strong="G5590" is|strong="G1510" required of|strong="G2316" you|strong="G4771". The|strong="G1161" things|strong="G3778" which|strong="G3739" you|strong="G4771" have|strong="G1510" prepared|strong="G2090"—whose|strong="G3739" will|strong="G2316" they|strong="G1161" be|strong="G1510"?’ 21 So|strong="G3779" is|strong="G3588" he|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3588" lays up|strong="G1519" treasure|strong="G2343" for|strong="G1519" himself|strong="G1438", and|strong="G2532" is|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3361" rich|strong="G4147" toward|strong="G1519" God|strong="G2316".” 22 He said to his disciples, “Therefore|strong="G1223" I|strong="G1161" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", don’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G3361" anxious|strong="G3309" for|strong="G1223" your|strong="G1223" life|strong="G5590", what|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" eat|strong="G2068", nor|strong="G3366" yet|strong="G1161" for|strong="G1223" your|strong="G1223" body|strong="G4983", what|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" wear. 23 Life|strong="G5590" is|strong="G1510" more|strong="G4119" than|strong="G4183" food|strong="G5160", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" body|strong="G4983" is|strong="G1510" more|strong="G4119" than|strong="G4183" clothing|strong="G1742". 24 Consider|strong="G2657" the|strong="G2532" ravens|strong="G2876": they|strong="G2532" don’t|strong="G3588" sow|strong="G4687", they|strong="G2532" don’t|strong="G3588" reap|strong="G2325", they|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2532" no|strong="G3756" warehouse or|strong="G2532" barn, and|strong="G2532" God|strong="G2316" feeds|strong="G5142" them|strong="G3588". How|strong="G4214" much|strong="G4214" more|strong="G3123" valuable|strong="G1308" are|strong="G1510" you|strong="G5210" than|strong="G2532" birds|strong="G4071"! 25 Which|strong="G3588" of|strong="G1537" you|strong="G5210" by|strong="G1537" being|strong="G1161" anxious|strong="G3309" can|strong="G1410" add|strong="G4369" a|strong="G1909" cubit|strong="G4083" to|strong="G1909" his|strong="G1909" height? 26 If|strong="G1487" then|strong="G3767" you|strong="G1487" aren’t|strong="G3588" able|strong="G1410" to|strong="G1410" do|strong="G5101" even|strong="G3761" the|strong="G3588" least|strong="G1646" things|strong="G3588", why|strong="G5101" are|strong="G3588" you|strong="G1487" anxious|strong="G3309" about|strong="G4012" the|strong="G3588" rest|strong="G3062"? 27 Consider|strong="G2657" the|strong="G1722" lilies|strong="G2918", how|strong="G4459" they|strong="G1161" grow. They|strong="G1161" don’t|strong="G3588" toil|strong="G2872", neither|strong="G3777" do|strong="G3004" they|strong="G1161" spin|strong="G3514"; yet|strong="G1161" I|strong="G1161" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", even|strong="G3761" Solomon|strong="G4672" in|strong="G1722" all|strong="G3956" his|strong="G3956" glory|strong="G1391" was|strong="G3588" not|strong="G3761" arrayed|strong="G4016" like|strong="G5613" one|strong="G1520" of|strong="G1391" these|strong="G3778". 28 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" this|strong="G3588" is|strong="G1510" how|strong="G4214" God|strong="G2316" clothes the|strong="G1722" grass|strong="G5528" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" field, which|strong="G3588" today|strong="G4594" exists and|strong="G2532" tomorrow is|strong="G1510" cast|strong="G2532" into|strong="G1519" the|strong="G1722" oven, how|strong="G4214" much|strong="G4214" more|strong="G3123" will|strong="G2316" he|strong="G2532" clothe you|strong="G5210", O you|strong="G5210" of|strong="G2532" little|strong="G3640" faith|strong="G3640"? 29 “Don’t seek|strong="G2212" what|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" eat|strong="G2068" or|strong="G2532" what|strong="G5101" you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G5101" drink|strong="G4095"; neither|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" anxious. 30 For|strong="G1063" the|strong="G3956" nations|strong="G1484" of|strong="G3962" the|strong="G3956" world|strong="G2889" seek|strong="G1934" after|strong="G1161" all|strong="G3956" of|strong="G3962" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3956", but|strong="G1161" your|strong="G3956" Father|strong="G3962" knows|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" need|strong="G5535" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3956". 31 But|strong="G2532" seek|strong="G2212" God|strong="G2532"’s Kingdom, and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G2532" these|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3778" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" added|strong="G4369" to|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210". 32 “Don’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G3361" afraid|strong="G5399", little|strong="G3398" flock|strong="G4168", for|strong="G3754" it|strong="G3754" is|strong="G3588" your|strong="G1325" Father|strong="G3962"’s good|strong="G2106" pleasure|strong="G2106" to|strong="G1325" give|strong="G1325" you|strong="G5210" the|strong="G3588" Kingdom. 33 Sell|strong="G4453" what|strong="G3588" you|strong="G5210" have|strong="G2532" and|strong="G2532" give|strong="G1325" gifts|strong="G1654" to|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" needy. Make|strong="G4160" for|strong="G1722" yourselves|strong="G1438" purses which|strong="G3588" don’t|strong="G3588" grow old|strong="G3822", a|strong="G2532" treasure|strong="G2344" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" heavens|strong="G3772" that|strong="G3588" doesn’t|strong="G3588" fail|strong="G3756", where|strong="G3699" no|strong="G3756" thief|strong="G2812" approaches and|strong="G2532" no|strong="G3756" moth|strong="G4597" destroys|strong="G1311". 34 For|strong="G1063" where|strong="G3699" your|strong="G2532" treasure|strong="G2344" is|strong="G1510", there|strong="G1563" will|strong="G1510" your|strong="G2532" heart|strong="G2588" be|strong="G1510" also|strong="G2532". 35 “Let|strong="G1510" your|strong="G2532" waist|strong="G3751" be|strong="G1510" dressed|strong="G4024" and|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" lamps|strong="G3088" burning|strong="G2545". 36 Be|strong="G2532" like|strong="G3664" men|strong="G3588" watching for|strong="G2532" their|strong="G1438" lord|strong="G2962" when|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" returns from|strong="G1537" the|strong="G2532" wedding|strong="G1062" feast|strong="G1062", that|strong="G2443" when|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" comes|strong="G2064" and|strong="G2532" knocks|strong="G2925", they|strong="G2532" may|strong="G2532" immediately|strong="G2112" open to|strong="G2443" him|strong="G3588". 37 Blessed|strong="G3107" are|strong="G3588" those|strong="G3588" servants|strong="G1401" whom|strong="G3739" the|strong="G2532" lord|strong="G2962" will|strong="G2532" find|strong="G2147" watching|strong="G1127" when|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" comes|strong="G2064". Most certainly|strong="G2532" I|strong="G3739" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" that|strong="G3754" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" dress himself|strong="G1565", make|strong="G2532" them|strong="G3588" recline, and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" come|strong="G2064" and|strong="G2532" serve|strong="G1247" them|strong="G3588". 38 They|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" blessed|strong="G3107" if|strong="G2579" he|strong="G2532" comes|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" second|strong="G1208" or|strong="G2532" third|strong="G5154" watch|strong="G5438" and|strong="G2532" finds|strong="G2147" them|strong="G3588" so|strong="G3779". 39 But|strong="G1161" know|strong="G1492" this|strong="G3778", that|strong="G3754" if|strong="G1487" the|strong="G1161" master of|strong="G3624" the|strong="G1161" house|strong="G3624" had|strong="G3588" known|strong="G1097" in|strong="G3756" what|strong="G4169" hour|strong="G5610" the|strong="G1161" thief|strong="G2812" was|strong="G3588" coming|strong="G2064", he|strong="G1161" would|strong="G2064" have|strong="G1097" watched and|strong="G1161" not|strong="G3756" allowed his|strong="G3754" house|strong="G3624" to|strong="G2064" be|strong="G3756" broken|strong="G1358" into|strong="G2064". 40 Therefore|strong="G2532" be|strong="G1096" ready|strong="G2092" also|strong="G2532", for|strong="G3754" the|strong="G2532" Son|strong="G5207" of|strong="G5207" Man|strong="G3739" is|strong="G3588" coming|strong="G2064" in|strong="G2532" an|strong="G2532" hour|strong="G5610" that|strong="G3754" you|strong="G5210" don’t|strong="G3588" expect|strong="G1380" him|strong="G3588".” 41 Peter said to him, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everybody?” 42 The Lord said, “Who|strong="G3739" then|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" the|strong="G1722" faithful|strong="G4103" and|strong="G2532" wise|strong="G5429" steward|strong="G3623", whom|strong="G3739" his|strong="G1909" lord|strong="G2962" will|strong="G5101" set|strong="G2525" over|strong="G1909" his|strong="G1909" household|strong="G2322", to|strong="G2532" give|strong="G1325" them|strong="G3588" their|strong="G2532" portion of|strong="G2532" food at|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" right|strong="G2540" times|strong="G2540"? 43 Blessed|strong="G3107" is|strong="G3588" that|strong="G3739" servant|strong="G1401" whom|strong="G3739" his|strong="G4160" lord|strong="G2962" will|strong="G3739" find|strong="G2147" doing|strong="G4160" so|strong="G3779" when|strong="G2064" he|strong="G3739" comes|strong="G2064". 44 Truly|strong="G1909" I|strong="G3754" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" that|strong="G3754" he|strong="G3754" will|strong="G3956" set|strong="G2525" him|strong="G3588" over|strong="G1909" all|strong="G3956" that|strong="G3754" he|strong="G3754" has. 45 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1437" that|strong="G3588" servant|strong="G1401" says|strong="G3004" in|strong="G1722" his|strong="G1722" heart|strong="G2588", ‘My|strong="G1722" lord|strong="G2962" delays his|strong="G1722" coming|strong="G2064",’ and|strong="G2532" begins to|strong="G2532" beat|strong="G5180" the|strong="G1722" menservants and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" maidservants, and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" eat|strong="G2068" and|strong="G2532" drink|strong="G4095" and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" drunken|strong="G4095", 46 then|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" lord|strong="G2962" of|strong="G2250" that|strong="G3739" servant|strong="G1401" will|strong="G2532" come|strong="G2240" in|strong="G1722" a|strong="G2532" day|strong="G2250" when|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" isn’t|strong="G3588" expecting|strong="G4328" him|strong="G3588" and|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" an|strong="G2532" hour|strong="G5610" that|strong="G3739" he|strong="G2532" doesn’t|strong="G3588" know|strong="G1097", and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" cut|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" in|strong="G1722" two, and|strong="G2532" place|strong="G3313" his|strong="G1722" portion|strong="G3313" with|strong="G3326" the|strong="G1722" unfaithful. 47 That|strong="G3588" servant|strong="G1401" who|strong="G3588" knew|strong="G1097" his|strong="G4160" lord|strong="G2962"’s|strong="G2962" will|strong="G2307", and|strong="G2532" didn’t|strong="G3588" prepare|strong="G2090" nor|strong="G2532" do|strong="G4160" what|strong="G3588" he|strong="G2532" wanted, will|strong="G2307" be|strong="G2532" beaten|strong="G1194" with|strong="G4314" many|strong="G4183" stripes, 48 but|strong="G1161" he|strong="G2532" who|strong="G3739" didn’t|strong="G3588" know|strong="G1097", and|strong="G2532" did|strong="G4160" things|strong="G3956" worthy of|strong="G2532" stripes|strong="G4127", will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" beaten|strong="G1194" with|strong="G3844" few|strong="G3641" stripes|strong="G4127". To|strong="G2532" whomever|strong="G3739" much|strong="G4183" is|strong="G3588" given|strong="G1325", of|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" will|strong="G2532" much|strong="G4183" be|strong="G2532" required|strong="G2212"; and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" whom|strong="G3739" much|strong="G4183" was|strong="G3588" entrusted|strong="G3908", of|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" more|strong="G4183" will|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" asked. 49 “I|strong="G2532" came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G2532" throw fire|strong="G4442" on|strong="G1909" the|strong="G2532" earth|strong="G1093". I|strong="G2532" wish|strong="G2309" it|strong="G2532" were|strong="G3588" already|strong="G2235" kindled. 50 But|strong="G1161" I|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" a|strong="G2192" baptism to|strong="G2532" be|strong="G2532" baptized with|strong="G2532", and|strong="G2532" how|strong="G4459" distressed|strong="G4912" I|strong="G2532" am|strong="G2532" until|strong="G2193" it|strong="G2532" is|strong="G2532" accomplished|strong="G5055"! 51 Do|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" think|strong="G1380" that|strong="G3754" I|strong="G3754" have|strong="G5210" come|strong="G3854" to|strong="G3004" give|strong="G1325" peace|strong="G1515" on|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" earth|strong="G1093"?
