Luke 13

1 Now there were some present at the same time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered them, “Do|strong="G1096" you|strong="G3754" think|strong="G1380" that|strong="G3754" these|strong="G3778" Galileans|strong="G1057" were|strong="G3588" worse sinners than|strong="G3844" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G2532" other|strong="G3588" Galileans|strong="G1057", because|strong="G3754" they|strong="G2532" suffered|strong="G3958" such|strong="G3778" things|strong="G3956"? 3 I|strong="G1437" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", no|strong="G3361", but|strong="G3361" unless|strong="G1437" you|strong="G5210" repent|strong="G3340", you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G3956" all|strong="G3956" perish in|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" same|strong="G3668" way|strong="G3668". 4 Or|strong="G2228" those|strong="G3588" eighteen on|strong="G1909" whom|strong="G3739" the|strong="G1722" tower|strong="G4444" in|strong="G1722" Siloam|strong="G4611" fell|strong="G4098" and|strong="G2532" killed them|strong="G3588"—do|strong="G1096" you|strong="G3739" think|strong="G1380" that|strong="G3754" they|strong="G2532" were|strong="G3588" worse offenders than|strong="G2228" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G1722" men|strong="G3956" who|strong="G3739" dwell|strong="G2730" in|strong="G1722" Jerusalem|strong="G2419"? 5 I|strong="G1437" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", no|strong="G3361", but|strong="G3361", unless|strong="G1437" you|strong="G5210" repent|strong="G3340", you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G3956" all|strong="G3956" perish in|strong="G3956" the|strong="G3956" same|strong="G5615" way|strong="G5615".” 6 He spoke this parable. “A|strong="G2192" certain|strong="G5100" man|strong="G5100" had|strong="G2192" a|strong="G2192" fig|strong="G4808" tree|strong="G4808" planted|strong="G5452" in|strong="G1722" his|strong="G1722" vineyard, and|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" came|strong="G2064" seeking|strong="G2212" fruit|strong="G2590" on|strong="G1722" it|strong="G2532" and|strong="G2532" found|strong="G2147" none|strong="G3756". 7 He|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004" to|strong="G4314" the|strong="G1722" vine|strong="G1093" dresser, ‘Behold|strong="G2400", these|strong="G3778" three|strong="G5140" years|strong="G2094" I|strong="G3739" have|strong="G2532" come|strong="G2064" looking|strong="G2212" for|strong="G4314" fruit|strong="G2590" on|strong="G1722" this|strong="G3778" fig|strong="G4808" tree|strong="G4808", and|strong="G2532" found|strong="G2147" none|strong="G3756". Cut|strong="G1581" it|strong="G2532" down|strong="G1581"! Why|strong="G2444" does|strong="G2064" it|strong="G2532" waste the|strong="G1722" soil|strong="G1093"?’ 8 He|strong="G2532" answered|strong="G3004", ‘Lord|strong="G2962", leave it|strong="G2532" alone|strong="G1438" this|strong="G3778" year|strong="G2094" also|strong="G2532", until|strong="G2193" I|strong="G2532" dig|strong="G4626" around|strong="G4012" it|strong="G2532" and|strong="G2532" fertilize it|strong="G2532". 9 If|strong="G1487" it|strong="G1161" bears|strong="G4160" fruit|strong="G2590", fine; but|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" not|strong="G3361", after|strong="G1161" that|strong="G3588", you|strong="G1487" can|strong="G4160" cut|strong="G1581" it|strong="G1161" down|strong="G1581".’” 10 He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day. 11 Behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years. She was bent over and could in no way straighten herself up. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, “Woman|strong="G1135", you|strong="G4771" are|strong="G3588" freed from|strong="G2532" your|strong="G2532" infirmity.” 13 He laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and glorified God. 14 The ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the multitude, “There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day!” 15 Therefore the Lord answered him, “You|strong="G5210" hypocrites|strong="G5273"! Doesn’t|strong="G3588" each|strong="G1538" one|strong="G1538" of|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" free|strong="G3089" his|strong="G2532" ox|strong="G1016" or|strong="G2228" his|strong="G2532" donkey|strong="G3688" from|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" stall|strong="G5336" on|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" Sabbath|strong="G4521" and|strong="G2532" lead|strong="G2532" him|strong="G3588" away to|strong="G2532" water|strong="G4222"? 16 Ought|strong="G1163" not|strong="G3756" this|strong="G3778" woman|strong="G3778", being|strong="G1510" a|strong="G2532" daughter|strong="G2364" of|strong="G2250" Abraham whom|strong="G3739" Satan|strong="G4567" had|strong="G2532" bound|strong="G1210" eighteen|strong="G1176" long|strong="G2250" years|strong="G2094", be|strong="G1510" freed from|strong="G2532" this|strong="G3778" bondage on|strong="G1161" the|strong="G2532" Sabbath|strong="G4521" day|strong="G2250"?” 17 As he said these things, all his adversaries were disappointed; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. 18 He said, “What|strong="G5101" is|strong="G1510" God|strong="G2316"’s Kingdom like|strong="G3664"? To|strong="G2532" what|strong="G5101" shall|strong="G2532" I|strong="G2532" compare|strong="G3666" it|strong="G2532"? 19 It|strong="G2532" is|strong="G1510" like|strong="G3664" a|strong="G1096" grain|strong="G2848" of|strong="G2532" mustard|strong="G4615" seed|strong="G2848" which|strong="G3739" a|strong="G1096" man|strong="G3739" took|strong="G2983" and|strong="G2532" put|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" his|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" garden|strong="G2779". It|strong="G2532" grew and|strong="G2532" became|strong="G1096" a|strong="G1096" large tree|strong="G1186", and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" birds|strong="G4071" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" sky|strong="G3772" live|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" its branches|strong="G2798".” 20 Again he said, “To|strong="G2532" what|strong="G5101" shall|strong="G2532" I|strong="G2532" compare|strong="G3666" God|strong="G2316"’s Kingdom? 21 It|strong="G1510" is|strong="G1510" like|strong="G3664" yeast|strong="G2219", which|strong="G3739" a|strong="G1519" woman|strong="G1135" took|strong="G2983" and|strong="G1135" hid|strong="G2928" in|strong="G1519" three|strong="G5140" measures|strong="G4568" of|strong="G1519" flour, until|strong="G2193" it|strong="G1510" was|strong="G1510" all|strong="G3650" leavened|strong="G2220".” 22 He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and traveling on to Jerusalem. 23 One said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?” He said to them, 24 “Strive to|strong="G2532" enter|strong="G1525" in|strong="G1525" by|strong="G1223" the|strong="G2532" narrow|strong="G4728" door|strong="G2374", for|strong="G3754" many|strong="G4183", I|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", will|strong="G2532" seek|strong="G2212" to|strong="G2532" enter|strong="G1525" in|strong="G1525" and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" be|strong="G2532" able|strong="G2480". 25 When|strong="G2532" once|strong="G3617" the|strong="G2532" master|strong="G2962" of|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" house|strong="G3617" has|strong="G2962" risen|strong="G1453" up|strong="G1453" and|strong="G2532" has|strong="G2962" shut|strong="G1473" the|strong="G2532" door|strong="G2374", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G5210" begin to|strong="G2532" stand|strong="G2476" outside|strong="G1854" and|strong="G2532" to|strong="G2532" knock|strong="G2925" at|strong="G3756" the|strong="G2532" door|strong="G2374", saying|strong="G3004", ‘Lord|strong="G2962", Lord|strong="G2962", open to|strong="G2532" us|strong="G3004"!’ then|strong="G2532" he|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" answer and|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", ‘I|strong="G1473" don’t|strong="G3588" know|strong="G1492" you|strong="G5210" or|strong="G2532" where|strong="G4159" you|strong="G5210" come|strong="G1510" from|strong="G2532".’ 26 Then|strong="G2532" you|strong="G4771" will|strong="G2532" begin to|strong="G2532" say|strong="G3004", ‘We|strong="G2249" ate|strong="G2068" and|strong="G2532" drank|strong="G4095" in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G2532" presence|strong="G1799", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G4771" taught|strong="G1321" in|strong="G1722" our|strong="G2532" streets|strong="G4116".’ 27 He|strong="G2532" will|strong="G1510" say|strong="G3004", ‘I|strong="G1473" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", I|strong="G1473" don’t know|strong="G1492" where|strong="G4159" you|strong="G5210" come|strong="G1510" from|strong="G2532". Depart from|strong="G2532" me|strong="G1473", all|strong="G3956" you|strong="G5210" workers|strong="G2040" of|strong="G2532" iniquity.’ 28 There|strong="G1563" will|strong="G2316" be|strong="G1510" weeping|strong="G2805" and|strong="G2532" gnashing|strong="G1030" of|strong="G2316" teeth|strong="G3599" when|strong="G3752" you|strong="G5210" see|strong="G3708" Abraham, Isaac|strong="G2464", Jacob|strong="G2384", and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" the|strong="G1722" prophets|strong="G4396" in|strong="G1722" God|strong="G2316"’s Kingdom, and|strong="G2532" yourselves|strong="G4771" being|strong="G1510" thrown|strong="G1544" outside|strong="G1854". 29 They|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" come|strong="G2240" from|strong="G2532" the|strong="G1722" east, west|strong="G1424", north|strong="G1005", and|strong="G2532" south|strong="G3558", and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G2316" sit down in|strong="G1722" God|strong="G2316"’s Kingdom. 30 Behold|strong="G2400", there|strong="G2532" are|strong="G1510" some|strong="G3739" who|strong="G3739" are|strong="G1510" last|strong="G2078" who|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" first|strong="G4413", and|strong="G2532" there|strong="G2532" are|strong="G1510" some|strong="G3739" who|strong="G3739" are|strong="G1510" first|strong="G4413" who|strong="G3739" will|strong="G1510" be|strong="G1510" last|strong="G2078".” 31 On that same day, some Pharisees came, saying to him, “Get out of here and go away, for Herod wants to kill you.” 32 He said to them, “Go|strong="G4198" and|strong="G2532" tell|strong="G3004" that|strong="G3588" fox, ‘Behold|strong="G2400", I|strong="G2532" cast|strong="G1544" out|strong="G1544" demons|strong="G1140" and|strong="G2532" perform cures|strong="G2392" today|strong="G4594" and|strong="G2532" tomorrow, and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" third|strong="G5154" day|strong="G4594" I|strong="G2532" complete|strong="G5048" my|strong="G3708" mission. 33 Nevertheless|strong="G4133" I|strong="G1473" must|strong="G1163" go|strong="G4198" on|strong="G4198" my|strong="G1473" way|strong="G4198" today|strong="G4594" and|strong="G2532" tomorrow and|strong="G2532" the|strong="G2532" next|strong="G2192" day|strong="G4594", for|strong="G3754" it|strong="G2532" can’t|strong="G3588" be|strong="G2532" that|strong="G3754" a|strong="G2192" prophet|strong="G4396" would|strong="G2532" perish outside|strong="G1854" of|strong="G2532" Jerusalem|strong="G2419".’ 34 “Jerusalem|strong="G2419", Jerusalem|strong="G2419", you|strong="G4771" who|strong="G3739" kills the|strong="G2532" prophets|strong="G4396" and|strong="G2532" stones|strong="G3036" those|strong="G3588" who|strong="G3739" are|strong="G3588" sent|strong="G2532" to|strong="G4314" her|strong="G1438"! How|strong="G4212" often|strong="G4212" I|strong="G3739" wanted|strong="G2309" to|strong="G4314" gather|strong="G1996" your|strong="G2532" children|strong="G5043" together|strong="G1996", like|strong="G2309" a|strong="G2532" hen|strong="G3733" gathers|strong="G1996" her|strong="G1438" own|strong="G1438" brood|strong="G3555" under|strong="G5259" her|strong="G1438" wings|strong="G4420", and|strong="G2532" you|strong="G4771" refused|strong="G3756"! 35 Behold|strong="G2400", your|strong="G2962" house|strong="G3624" is|strong="G3588" left to|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210" desolate. I|strong="G1473" tell|strong="G3004" you|strong="G5210", you|strong="G5210" will|strong="G2962" not|strong="G3756" see|strong="G3708" me|strong="G1473" until|strong="G2193" you|strong="G5210" say|strong="G3004", ‘Blessed|strong="G2127" is|strong="G3588" he|strong="G1161" who|strong="G3588" comes|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1722" the|strong="G1722" name|strong="G3686" of|strong="G3686" the|strong="G1722" Lord|strong="G2962"!’”
